Transforming Leadership Through Experiential Learning

Caroline Assalian is the Founder and CEO of KasKor Business Coaching, and is currently pursuing an MA in Coaching and Mentoring through the Professional Practice Framework at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD). Her journey highlights the transformative power of recognising experiential learning and combining it with academic rigour.

For Caroline:

“This course, combined with my MA journey, has ignited a profound transformation in my business. It has empowered me to expand beyond exclusively serving companies to offering coaching and leadership development directly to individuals. This evolution has been a deeply fulfilling step in amplifying my mission to inspire leaders, unlocking their highest capabilities to achieve extraordinary results and drive meaningful, lasting change on a broader scale.”

The Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RAL) module at UWTSD enables professionals like Caroline to translate their extensive real-world expertise into academic credit. This unique approach empowers learners to achieve academic qualifications while continuing to excel in their careers.

She said:

“Pursuing this programme has allowed me to integrate my professional experience with evidence-based practices to refine my craft and better serve my clients. The RAL module has exceeded my expectations, turning my lifelong aspiration of earning a master’s degree into a reality.”

Caroline describes the profound impact the course has had on her work and personal development.

“The RAL module has elevated my reflective practices and sharpened my critical-thinking skills. It has reinforced my belief that coaching is not just a profession but a powerful opportunity to create lasting, positive change in people’s lives.”

This balance of reflection and practical application has not only enhanced her professional skills but also deepened her self-awareness and self-belief.

As an international student, Caroline has found her experience at UWTSD to be particularly enriching.

“Learning alongside a diverse group of students has broadened my worldview and exposed me to new ways of thinking. The university’s faculty and staff have been exceptionally supportive, ensuring my journey has been seamless and rewarding.”

Sarah Loxdale, Senior Lecturer in the Professional Practice Framework Team at UWTSD said:

“Caroline’s journey really does illustrate the transformative power of experiential learning when linked with academic inquiry. At UWTSD, we are proud to support professionals like Caroline in recognising the value of their professional experience and enabling them to translate this into tangible academic achievements. Her story is a testament to the impact of reflective practice in shaping not only professional excellence but also personal growth.”
