The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CESI, a premier institution specialising in engineering, technology, and vocational education.
The move marks the beginning of a strategic academic partnership aimed at enriching educational experiences and expanding exchange opportunities between the two institutions. Led by UWTSD’s International mobility staff, Kath Griffiths and Hannah Clayton, the discussions focused on shared goals around student mobility, academic cooperation, and innovation in teaching and research.
“Our visit to CESI has been incredibly productive and inspiring,” said Kath Griffiths, who headed the UWTSD delegation to Paris. “It has laid a strong foundation for future collaborations that will enrich the experiences of both our students and staff. We look forward to building a dynamic partnership focused on impactful international education.”
CESI offered guided tours of its state-of-the-art learning environments and showcasing its research capabilities. Ruth Lied and Laurianne Giteau, International Relations Managers at CESI, played key roles in facilitating the dialogue and aligning both institutions’ visions for future cooperation.
Ruth Lied said:
“I visited UWTSD Swansea in November 2024 and have fond memories of the warm welcome I received and exciting discussions I had with academic and administrative staff to explore collaboration possibilities. So, it was a real pleasure to host Kath and Hannah at CESI in April, where we were able to dive deeper into the details of student and faculty exchange after having become official institutional partners! We are excited to see these discussions become a reality and work for the benefit of our students, professors, and researchers with the joint goal of contributing to a more innovative, interconnected, and inclusive world.”
The new partnership presents several opportunities for students on both sides:
- CESI students will have the opportunity to study Information Technology and Cyber Security for a semester at UWTSD’s cutting-edge Swansea Waterfront campus.
- UWTSD students will be invited to attend CESI’s renowned Summer Schools in Paris and Nice, with innovative and timely themes including:
- Green Innovation & Sustainable Development: Exploring eco-design and technologies for ecological transition and decarbonisation.
- BIM for Sustaiificial Intelligence: Immersing students in the forefront of AI innovation with a hands-on, forward-thinking approach.
- Generative Artificial Intelligence: Immersing students in the forefront of AI innovation with a hands-on, forward-thinking approach.
UWTSD said the MoU reaffirmed its mission to prepare students for a global future by facilitating intercultural exchange, enhancing academic mobility, and promoting collaborative learning with leading international partners.
