Sweetmans and Partners Highlight The Power of Partnership

Founded in 2016, Sweetmans and Partners specialise in people and business development services for the financial, legal and professional services sector, and purpose led organisations.

They do this through a combination of workshops, hackathons, coaching and consultancy services.

Whilst they are a profit-making business, they are also passionate about having a wider impact through their work. Fully certified as a B-Corporation, they are legally required to ensure their business has a positive social and environmental impact, as well as delivering shareholder returns.

Core to their success has been the partnerships they’ve developed with clients and at a sector level. In particular, Sweetmans holds an annual hackathon for the financial, legal and professional services sector. Based on a model from the tech sector, the hackathon has been adapted as a vehicle to:

  • Respond to sector challenges and opportunities, including wellbeing and diversity
  • Develop non-technical skills and behaviours
  • Build networks across the sector

Sweetmans has also delivered in-house hackathons for individual clients to support them to:

  • Elicit views from across the business to inform strategy and change programmes
  • Bring values to life
  • Develop leadership skills and behaviours

The business was a winner at the 2019 Wales Start up Awards, scooping the prize for Financial and Professional Services Start-Up of the Year.

Speaking on the award, Rosie Sweetman said:

“Winning this award has, first and foremost, meant we’ve been able to celebrate our journey of hard work, fun and risk-taking over the last 3 years!

It’s also an endorsement of our approach of working in genuine partnership with clients to meet their fast-changing needs in an increasingly uncertain, and complex world.”
