Sony UK Technology Centre (UK TEC) has opened its search for the latest round of talented applicants to join its Higher Apprenticeship scheme.
The Pencoed-based facility, which produces HD and 4K broadcast equipment for worldwide distribution, is launching the scheme for the ninth consecutive year on February 8th.
The industry-leading scheme is coordinated by the company’s onsite academy and will enable its participants to gain invaluable work experience at one of the world’s leading manufacturing sites, while they also work to gain a Higher Apprenticeship Qualification such as HNC/HND or degree qualifications.
This year, the apprentice recruitment process has been adapted by the manufacturing giant to adhere to strict health and safety and social distancing measures amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, with many of the activities such as interviews taking place online to minimise face-to-face contact.
Sony UK Tec is looking for budding Software, Quality and Compliance, Mechanical, and Electronic Engineers, along with positions in Business Admin, Finance, and Supply Chain for the 4-year scheme. As part of the apprenticeship, successful applicants will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of departments, to enable them to decide where their interests and skills are best suited.
During the scheme, apprentices will be exposed to the production of high end 4k broadcast cameras, innovative products such as the Raspberry Pi and Smart IoT. The advancement in technologies such as big data, AI connected systems, advanced robotics and cutting edge automation.
So far over 32 apprentices have taken part in the successful internal scheme since its inception, with all participants praising its diverse offering.

To apply for a place in the Sony UK TEC Apprenticeship scheme applicants must have a minimum of five GCSEs, including a B or above in Maths, and Cs or above in Science and English.
Applications close at midnight on Sunday 21st February, with assessments due to take place throughout March and April.
