The Welsh Start Up Changing the Way We View Energy

Surple is the Welsh Start up that aims to change the way we view energy.

Born out of the Alacrity foundation, which is a programme which combines graduate entrepreneurs with world-class mentors to create the next generation of hi-tech companies.

Surple was created to address a problem that the team found with Newport Council’s energy manager. He had 350 buildings to look after and a £5 million pound energy spend. With such a mammoth task, Surple wanted to create a tool that would change the way both those looking after energy and those outside the field could interact with and view energy.

Realising a gap in communicating smart analytics to everyone, the firm has ambitions to help deal with the ever-growing climate emergency by making the information surrounding energy more accessible and therefore, helping firms to reduce their energy usage.

These green ambitions were rewarded this year at the Wales Start up award. The firm picked up the award for Green Start-up of the year.

Managing Director for Surple, Peter Allan commented;

“Winning this award has really spurred us on and given us great motivation for what we do. We truly believe we can help firms reduce energy usage not just across Wales or the UK, but the entire world.”

If you represent a company, or know of anyone, who is looking to reduce their energy usage, please visit the Surple website to find out more about the team and their products.
