Regional Skills Partnership Leads Development of New Apprenticeship Framework

South West Wales is set to become a leader in global skills development with the launch of a brand new apprenticeship framework for the UK that covers levels 2 to 6 in User centred Design.

The Swansea Bay City Deal Skills and Talent programme funded the development of the Apprenticeship framework following work by the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership and the Skills and Talent Programme to identify skills gaps within the region.

This high-quality apprenticeship, not only meets the needs of employers but will allow learners to gain a higher level qualifications while working and learning. The programme offers an integrated FE/HE delivery from level 2 and progression from level 4 into the degree apprenticeship with Gower College and University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) beginning delivery of the programme in the South West Wales region. This will allow learners to gain a higher level qualifications while working and learning.

The framework, which is approved by the Welsh Government and aligned with the Specification of Apprenticeship Standards for Wales (SASW)1, aims to provide learners with the relevant knowledge, skills and qualifications to succeed in the global market. The framework was developed by a consortium of stakeholders, including employers, training providers, colleges, universities and sector bodies. The consortium consulted with sector representatives to ensure that the framework meets the current and future needs of employers and learners.
